I like this time of year – weather is nice, football and the other football on TV and the Tournament of Champions is coming back around. I ran last year’s TOC in November, and tried to straddle the holiday season as best we could, but decided thought it would be best for all if it shifted to January. We have a draft tool in the works that should be a nice addition for lots of leagues, that I am hoping we’ll be able to use in some fashion with the TOC.
The Tournament qualification period ended 10/26/22 – more details on qualifications below.
Three nice things about the Tournament of Champions:
*It’s a nice way for folks to get to know some new people on the site that they might not have played with in the past.
*It’s a nice way to open people’s eyes to different ways to play the game.
*There is a good prize.

I will be sending out invitations to the first 32 owners on the list, and then will work my way through to fill slots for the tournament starting in January. Understood that the Tournament of Champions is not for everyone – leagues begin with full team drafts to ensure that everyone is starting from as level a playing field as possible – and that can be a lot of fun, but takes some commitment while they are going on (drafts usually take 4-6 days).
More details on the format of this years’ tournament will be in the invitations. The format and qualification rules are specific to this years’ tournament only – we are moving towards a more flexible site that is going to enable changing some of those details up. People have specifically had some….feelings about qualification metrics and I am going to open up the process to all you statistician/sabermetricians out there to send in your metric proposals, more on that later.
