So we’re running a new tournament October 5th-8th – we’re calling it the Blast From the Past tourney, which is appropriate in at least three different ways I can think of.

The first ‘blast from the past’ is that we are going to let people choose a team from their past and bring them back from the great sim beyond. This is an idea we’ve wanted to be able to play around with for a long time – we have twenty years of data in this game to work with, including 40,000+ users, 95,000+ teams, and 48+ million games. This is as good a chance as any to look back over your user history and see who might be fun to get out on the field again.

The second ‘blast from the past’ is that we are reaching out to all the users of the game – past and present – to invite them to participate. We would love to see some old faces come back for the tournament (if that happens to be you – Zubaz would love to chat with you!) We’re probably dating ourselves, but a lot of us have treasured memories of those players and opening up those cards and remembering some of those guys is going to be a lot of fun. If you get any good cards in there, and there are some definite gems – get on the forums and let us know.

Tournament starts Thursday October 5th, deadline to entire is Noon EST on the 4th. We’ll be in the thick of the MLB playoffs at the point and it should be a real blast (sorry) of a weekend.
