We are excited to announce a series of upcoming changes aimed at giving leagues the ability to maximize their free agency systems. Today, we rolled out the first of these updates, with more to follow in the coming weeks and months.
Bid Visibility (LIVE RIGHT NOW!!!)
We’ve implemented a change to the visibility of bids in free agency, offering three options for leagues:
Blind Bidding
- Users will not be able to see if other teams are bidding on a player. This does away with the perceived ‘penalty’ of being the first bidder and encourages users to bid more accurately what they are willing to spend.
Team Visible (partially blind bidding)
- The current default system where users can see if other teams are bidding but not the amounts.
Team and Bid Visible (full visibility)
- Users can see other teams’ exact bids on players. Because these bids are not binding and can come in at the last minute, buyer beware with this option.
Any changes made to a league’s bid visibility setting will take effect after the season flip.
UPCOMING Changes
- Free Agency Interface
- We are redesigning the free agency interface to make it more user-friendly and intuitive. Expect a cleaner layout, easier navigation, and quicker access to essential information about free agents and bids.
- Unrestricted Free Agency
- League option to make free agents that have been on the market for a reasonable amount of time available to sign immediately, instead of having to go through a bidding process.
- Standardized Timing of Free Agent Signings
- League option to standardize the timing for signings, including an option to have the free agency process at the same time every day. No more guessing when players will sign; you’ll know exactly when.
- Reduction of UFA Salaries Over Time
- League option for gradual reduction of salaries for free agents remaining on the market for some time, giving you more decisions to make as the season goes on.
- Conditional Bidding
- A more involved change that is down the road a bit, making the bidding process more similar to fantasy sports.
