2025 MLB Season Predictions: What the BaseHit Community Is Forecasting

Spring is in the air, I almost drowned in pollen this weekend, and people are making bad April Fools jokes – that must mean baseball season is upon us! We asked our BaseHit community to dust off their crystal balls and share predictions for the 2025 MLB season, and here’s what they had to say. Check out this week’s podcast while you are at it, where we make our own predictions for the year.

World Series Champions

A lot of people think the Dodgers are the team to beat and their 6-0 record suggests it’s not a crazy idea. As one of the people that picked the Braves….I might want to get that one back.

  • Los Angeles Dodgers (15 votes)
  • Atlanta Braves (4 votes)
  • Arizona Diamondbacks (2 votes)
  • Others receiving votes: Brewers, Orioles, Mets, Phillies, and Twins

World Series Runners-Up

Almost nobody believes in the American League this year, do they?

  • Baltimore Orioles (8 votes)
  • Boston Red Sox (4 votes)
  • Texas Rangers (4 votes)
  • Seattle Mariners (2 votes)

National League MVP

One man race – Dodgers hype machine is in mid-season form clearly.

  • Shohei Ohtani (16 votes)
  • Others receiving votes: Jackson Merrill, Albies, Juan Soto, Corbin Carroll, Harper, Kyle Tucker, and Eugenio Suarez

American League MVP

AL Race much more competitive – Bobby Witt Jr. is a sizeable favorite but most of these picks did come in before Judge hit 4 HRs in two days.

  • Bobby Witt Jr. (8 votes)
  • Aaron Judge (4 votes)
  • Mike Trout (2 votes)
  • Gunnar Henderson (2 votes)
  • Others receiving votes: Corey Seager, Vladimir Guerrero Jr., Julio Rodriguez, and Yordan Alvarez

NL Cy Young Award

That kid should have kept the card and waited until Skenes locks in this Cy Young award before auctioning it.

  • Paul Skenes (10 votes)
  • Corbin Burnes (5 votes)
  • Others receiving votes: Zack Wheeler, Max Fried, and more

AL Cy Young Award

Hard to pick against last year’s pitching Triple Crown winner.

  • Tarik Skubal (7 votes)
  • Cole Ragans (2 votes)
  • Framber Valdez (2 votes)
  • Others receiving votes: Garrett Crochet, Luis Castillo, Tanner Houck, and more

NL Rookie of the Year

These votes were definitely in before Sasaki’s problems throwing strikes were fully apparent.

  • Roki Sasaki (7 votes)
  • Dylan Crews (7 votes)
  • Matt Shaw (3 votes)

AL Rookie of the Year

Legit toss-up category.

  • Kristian Campbell (3 votes) .
  • Cam Smith (3 votes)
  • Jasson Dominguez (3 votes)
  • Jackson Jobe (2 votes)

Other Intriguing Predictions

  • CHUCK_KIELLY “Ohtani goes for the 60/60 club but just misses”
  • Kopaseric “No pitcher will have 20 or more wins (again)”
  • RyckyRych going against the Dodger’s train: “Ohtani gets hurt and misses significant time, thus no awards and Dodgers fail to win WS”
  • vob415 “Player strike will be organized before the 2026 season”
  • dbacksfan72 “Dbacks sweep the Dodgers in the playoffs again”
  • CyMaddux31 “Jacob DeGrom goes 15-5 with a 2.87 ERA”
  • GoalieMaster12 “Blue Jays trade Vladimir Guerrero Jr to San Diego for King and prospects”
  • No one mentioned the torpedo/bowling pin bats.

Division Dominance

Which division will place the most teams in the playoffs:

  • NL West (8 votes) – Dodgers, Padres, and Diamondbacks??
  • NL East (7 votes) – Braves, Phillies, and Mets??
  • AL East (5 votes) – Yankees, Red Sox, Orioles??

Thanks to all our BaseHit users who participated – let’s look back at this in a few months and see who knew what they were talking about.
